34 Weeks

Wow! Sorry it has taken me so long to post, between getting ready for Henry and the holidays - time has just flown by. Here we are at 34 weeks - only 6 weeks to go! Rob and I actually have a doctors appointment on Tuesday. We will also be getting an ultrasound to check in on little man since I have been measuring ahead of schedule. Keep your fingers crossed everything goes well.

Here are a few photos of what we have been up to over the past few weeks - I will try and upload more later this week!

We spent one weekend getting everything ready for the nursery, here are pictures of the stroller and Rob putting the crib together:

How far along? 25 week
Maternity clothes? Yes - had to go back to Macy's this week to get a few "winter essentials"
Stretch marks? Nope.
Sleep: Pretty good
Best moment this week: Seeing Henry's heart and that everything looked great!
Movement: All the time
Food cravings: Chick-fil-A
Gender: Still a boy :-)
Labor Signs: Hopefully not for another 12+ weeks!
Belly Button in or out? Can still just see the back of it. It's odd looking though.
What I miss: a good glass of red wine, the colder weather begs for a nice glass of Malbec
What I am looking forward to: working on the nursery, we have started the cleaning out process!!
Weekly Wisdom: Know when to say when.
Milestone: Finishing my season of tennis a winner, with no injuries!

25 Weeks...

"Get ready for pat-a-cake! Baby's hands are now fully developed and he spends most of his awake time groping around in the darkness of your uterus. Brain and nerve endings are developed enough now so that your baby can feel the sensation of touch. That doesn't mean he can feel it when his father pokes your stomach, however, so tell him to knock it off. Other highlights include:

Your baby's arms and legs have grown to almost the proportions they will be at birth, which is still sort of short. So don't be alarmed when your newborn's arms barely clear his waist. Baby's nostrils, which have been plugged up until now, clear out (like he's taken a super-dose of Sudafed) and he can practice breathing through the nose. The structures of your baby's spine are now made up of 150 joints, 33 rings and some 1,000 ligaments. Can you believe you're growing something that complicated inside of you?

The capillaries, the teeniest blood vessels, are now forming in your baby's body, giving his formerly translucent skin a pink glow. The blood vessels in the lungs also develop this week. You'll see how well that worked out when your baby gives those lungs a workout while you're on line at the bank in a few months.

Your baby weighs about a pound and a half and is about 13½ inches long—roughly the length of one of those recorders you played in elementary school music class. Who's up for a round of "Hot Cross Buns?""

Apples, apples and more apples

This past weekend Rob and I headed up to North Georgia with his parents to pick apples. It is prime apple season here in Georgia and I was secretly craving an apple pie :-) We started in Elijay, then went to Blue Ridge and finally ended up at the Sorghum Festival in Blairsville. We had a great time just riding around (and eating our way) through the mountains. Rob also brought along his new "toy", a Nikon camera, to practice taking some pictures. Here are a few shots from our weekend:

24 Weeks Fun Facts

I saw this on another blog and thought it was a cute idea...hopefully she won't mind me stealing her idea :-) (I will try and do this each week - let's see if I can keep my promise)

How far along? 24 weeks today
Sleep: Not too shabby this week
Best moment this week: Rob finally felt Henry kick
Movement: Before and after each meal (this boy likes to eat)
Food cravings: soft serve ice cream (Blizzards, Frosty's, etc) and apples
Labor signs: Hopefully not for another 13+ weeks!
Belly Button in or out? Still in, it just gets a little more shallow each week - ha!
What I miss: Being able to walk without losing my breath so easily. I also miss being able to go for a run
What I am looking forward to: Getting to see Henry again on Monday (or at least the sonogram of his heart)
Weekly Wisdom: take it one day at a time
Milestone: We made it to the week of viability. Also Rob finally being able to feel him is a great milestone!

Your baby isn't just sitting around (on your bladder) doing nothing, he's working hard preparing for life outside the womb—perfecting his lungs and packing on the pounds. He'll gain ½ pound this week alone. Other highlights this week:

Things are starting to get a little crowded inside the old womb as baby grows bigger and bigger. Your ribs are probably pining away for the good old days when they didn't have a foot permanently lodged between them. Hate to break it to you, but it's going to get worse before it gets better.

Your baby's ears are fully functional now. And since they are, you may notice that loud noises and sudden movements can startle the little bugger. He's getting used to the everyday sounds inside the womb: the sound of your heart beating, your lungs inhaling and exhaling air, the growling of your stomach because your partner promised he'd be right back with that double cheeseburger and he's taking forever! He'll even be able to hear your voice when your partner finally arrives and you ask him where the bleep he's been! So talk nice!

Baby's got a fully developed inner ear now. This means his sense of balance is working and he can tell whether he's hanging upside down or right side up. He can also feel you moving, so go ahead, pop in your favorite tunes and boogie.

Your little Wiener schnitzel is about the length of a foot-long Chicago hot dog and weighs about 1 1/3 pounds.

Happy Birthday Poppa!

Happy Belated Birthday to Poppa, who turned 65 on September 26th. Rob and I went to Birmingham to stay with Uncle Craig & Aunt Melissa for the birthday celebration. We had a great time, despite to rainy weather for the football game on Saturday. Here are a few pictures from our weekend:

It's A Boy!

Rob and I had our 20 week appointment this morning and confirmed that it is a boy! We are both so excited and Rob is over the moon. He was taken by complete surprise, he had already convinced himself that it was a girl. We have gone ahead and picked out a name - Henry Thomas. Henry is a name that we both liked and Thomas is Rob's middle name as well as his dad's middle name - so the Colvin lineage lives on!

Henry was very active this morning, he was definitely showing off for the technician - flipping over and even beating on my tummy to get everyone to stop pushing him around. It was so nice to see that he was moving around and is measuring right on track. We will have to get another ultrasound at my next visit, only because Henry wouldn't cooperate so that we could get a good look at the chambers of his heart.

Here are a few pictures from Henry's first photo shoot:

This weekend Rob and I ventured out in the pouring rain to do a little baby shopping. We went to a few furniture stores and picked out our crib, stroller and car seat. (Now we just have to go back and buy them - ha!) Now that we know that we are having boy, the fun shopping can begin! We still need to select linens for the nursery and eventually buy a few items of clothing!

I hope everyone had a good weekend. I promise to post more, we had a few "techincal" difficulties, but we are back on track now!
